Breaking Barriers: How Women are Shaping the Future of Tech

The tech industry is evolving rapidly, and it is no longer a male-dominated industry. Women are coming to par and playing a vital part in organizations as they drive innovation, break barriers, and lead transformative change in STEM fields and tech roles in general. Considering the leadership roles, gender disparity is still prevalent despite steady upgrades in the overall representation of women in the tech industry. The main focus is to create a cohesive environment for women where they can lead, thrive, and shape the future of technology rather than boosting their representation.
At LantroTech, we are committed to promoting diversity as a prerequisite to innovation. We believe in creating an inclusive culture that empowers and supports women in all domains.
The Current Landscape of Gender Diversity in Tech
Persistent gender disparities in skilling profiles skewed men’s and women’s participation in the technology shift and their opportunities in the workplace. Since 2016, the percentage of women with STEM abilities has grown from 24.4% to 27.1% in less than ten years, even though men and women still exhibit STEM talents disproportionately, according to the Global Gender Gap Report 2024.
Leadership and Workforce Representation
LinkedIn data states that from 2024, women make up 42% of the global workforce and 31.7% of senior leaders, yet their presence in the workforce is still lower than men’s in almost every industry and economy.
Globally speaking, women have limited access to top-level roles, as evidenced by the “drop to the top.”In 2024, the rise from entry-level to the C-suite is accompanied by a 21.5 percentage point disparity in representation. Women only make up 25% of C-suite positions, despite almost half of entry-level jobs being held by them.
Women’s hiring into leadership positions, which had been hailed as a promising trend in previous editions, started to decline in 2023, going from 37.5% to 36.9%, and then continued to decline in early 2024, reaching 36.4%, below 2021 levels.
